Oh, what has happened to you, motherland?
the land of blue sky and the golden wheat.
Is it your fate to suffer till the end?
Is it your fate to only know defeat?
Have we been fighting for the people to be free,
for our children to speak their mother tongue
or did we want to live in misery
or did we wish to come undone?
Have you forgotten all the deaths and tortures
of people who were doomed to grieve?
Is it so easy to forget the soldiers
who sacrificed their lives for us to live?
Do you remember our people starving
hoping to get at least a crumb to stay alive?
And what about those who were left with nothing
and had to eat their brothers to survive?
Come on and take a look around
and say if you are pleased with what you're seeing.
Is it what it was all about?
Is it the place you want your child to live in?
